Women’s Ministry

Welcome to the women’s ministry of Three Rivers Grace Church! We desire to serve the women of our church along with the women of greater Pittsburgh through various Bible studies, book studies, discipleship and fellowship opportunities. The vision of the women’s ministry of 3RG is guided by these 4 core values…

  • God-Centered: We seek to highlight God’s glorious attributes. We want to help women see the beauty of who God is and help them view all of life through God-centered lenses.

  • Gospel Outreach: We want to reach out to women from various areas, ages, and ethnicities all around the Pittsburgh region. We want to show them the love of Christ and show them the wonder of the Gospel revealed in God’s Word.

  • Biblical Training: There is a clear focus on teaching the Bible. This is where we learn of God’s greatness and see the beauty of who He is. Therefore, a main component of our women’s ministry is teaching from God’s Word and helping women to read and study and apply the Bible for themselves. This is what will truly change lives over the long-term.

  • Biblical Womanhood: Part of proclaiming the truth of God’s Word and delighting in the beauty of His greatness is embracing the biblical portrait of femininity. In our culture, this can often be controversial, but it is of utmost importance. Therefore, we are passionate about teaching women about God’s unique and beautiful design for our lives.

Sermon on the Mount by Jen Wilkin
What does it mean to be a citizen of the kingdom of Heaven? The Sermon on the Mount articulates what the life of a Christ follower should look like, asking us the same questions it posed to its original hearers: How should a disciple relate to sin? To others? To the Law? How does a disciple think, speak, and act? In this 9-session study, examine the words of Jesus in-depth as He challenges us to think differently about repentance, salvation, and sanctification.

Choosing Gratitude by Nancy DeMoss Wolgemuth
Gratitude is a choice. If we fail to chose it, by default we choose ingratitude. And once allowed into the heart, ingratitude does not come by itself, but with other seedy companions that only succeed in stealing joy. A discipleship group focused on learning to cultivate a lifestyle of appreciating God’s goodness each day, despite our circumstances.

Our inheritance through Christ is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading. In 1 Peter, a man of faith and flaws and eyewitness to the life of Christ challenges us to look beyond our current circumstances to a future inheritance. He shares his concerns on big picture issues for the early church, describes believers’ true identity in Christ, and ultimately helps readers discover what it means to experience the Living Hope they have in Christ. Key themes of humility, submission, and identity in Christ guide the study of 1 Peter as participants are challenged to read the book in its entirety each week.

The Rare Jewel of Christian Contentment by Jeremiah Burroughs
Jeremiah Burrough’s writings, some published before and others after his death, were numerous, but The Rare-Jewel of Christian Contentment is one of the most valuable of them all. Its author was much concerned to promote (1) peace among believers of various ‘persuasions’ (2) peace and contentment in the hearts of individual believers during what he describes as ‘sad and sinking times’. The Rare Jewel concentrates upon this second aim. It is marked by sanity, clarity, aptness of illustration, and warmth of appeal to the heart. ‘There is an ark that you may come into, and no men in the world may live such comfortable, cheerful and contented lives as the saints of God’. Burroughs presses his lesson home with all the fervour and cogency of a true and faithful minister of God.

Trusting God Even When Life Hurts by Jerry Bridges
In an effort to strengthen his own trust in God during a time of adversity, Jerry Bridges began a lengthy Bible study on the topic of God's sovereignty. What he learned changed his life, and he now shares the fruit of that study with you in Trusting God. As you begin to explore the scope of God's power over nations, nature, and the detailed lives of individuals, you'll begin to acknowledge His loving control. And as you come to know Him better, you'll find yourself trusting Him more completely. Even when life hurts.

Sermon on the Mount by Sinclair B. Ferguson
The Sermon on the Mount is probably the best known section of the entire Bible. Yet it is also one of the least understood parts of the teaching of Jesus Christ. ‘It is not a sermon about an ideal life in an ideal world’ writes Sinclair B. Ferguson, ‘but about the kingdom life in a fallen world’. It answers some of the most pressing questions that every Christian encounters: What is a Christian? Does the Law of God still have a place in the Christian life? How can I learn to pray? How can I learn self-discipline? Why am I a prisoner to anxiety? The Sermon on the Mount deals with these issues in a crisp, concise and readable way. It provides an ideal introduction to Jesus’ great manifesto for life in his kingdom.

The Pilgrim’s Progress by John Bunyan
This famous story of man's progress through life in search of salvation remains one of the most entertaining allegories of faith ever written. Set against realistic backdrops of town and country, the powerful drama of the pilgrim's trials and temptations follows him in his harrowing journey to the Celestial City. Along a road filled with monsters and spiritual terrors, Christian confronts such emblematic characters as Worldly Wiseman, Giant Despair, Talkative, Ignorance, and the demons of the Valley of the Shadow of Death. But he is also joined by Hopeful and Faithful.

I Wish Someone Would Explain Hebrews To Me! by Stuart Olyott
Every Christian needs to understand Hebrews. If they do not, they will misunderstand the Old Testament and will also fail to fully appreciate what the Lord Jesus Christ has done, what he is doing now, and what he is going to do in the future. As a result, they will remain spiritually stunted. Over the years, plenty of books have been written to explain Hebrews, but only a few of them have had ordinary Christians in mind. Some of them are so large and so complicated that they appear to be the last word. Experts enjoy books like these, but everybody else is left bewildered. This book does not pretend to be ‘the last word’ but perhaps, for some, it will prove useful as ‘the first word’. Stuart Olyott explains Hebrews as clearly as the subject matter allows, keeping in mind the advice of Albert Einstein that ‘things should be as simple as possible, but no simpler’. Crystal clear explanation of the text is followed by detailed practical application.
Throughout, the aim of the author is to focus our gaze upon Christ so that we might follow him with renewed courage.

True Woman 101: Divine Design by Mary Kassian and Nancy Leigh DeMoss
What does it mean to be a woman? The current cultural ideal for womanhood encourages women to be strident, sexual, self-centered, independent -- and above all -- powerful and in control. But sadly, this model of womanhood hasn't delivered the happiness and fulfillment it promised. The Bible teaches that it's not up to us to decide what womanhood is all about. God created male and female for a very specific purpose. His design isn't arbitrary or unimportant. It is very intentional and He wants women to discover, embrace, and delight in the beauty of His design. He's looking for True Women!

True Woman 201: Interior Design - Ten Elements of Biblical Womanhood by Mary Kassian and Nancy Leigh DeMoss
Having a talented designer come in and create a new look for a home or restaurant is a popular topic of TV reality shows. These renovation shows are a great illustration for the object of this study. The Lord is the ultimate Designer. And He has a divine design for womanhood. He wants to come in and do a radical renovation of your heart. He wants to change you from the inside out. If you let Him, He'll give you an extreme makeover . . . a brand new interior design.

A Woman’s Wisdom: How the Book of Proverbs Speaks to Everything by Lydia Brownback
Advice books are no short-lived trend, even though much of the advice parading as “wisdom” proves shallow in the long run. What we need is biblical wisdom, and even more than that we need hearts set on the One who governs all our practicalities. The book of Proverbs unlocks the key to both, helping us to face very real challenges such as:

  1. handling our material resources wisely

  2. keeping ourselves sexually pure

  3. practicing biblical femininity in a world that scorns us for it

  4. sustaining God-glorifying marriages

  5. elevating biblical priorities ahead of day-to-day pressures

Unpacking the timeless counsel in the book of Proverbs, A Woman’s Wisdom teaches us to know the very Author of wisdom and to apply his relevant, how-to riches.

Graffiti: Learning to See the Art in Ourselves by Erin Davis
BEAUTY IS ONE UGLY SUBJECT! It's no secret that girls struggle with feeling gross, fat, skinny, tall, short, or inadequate, thanks to distorted ideas of what beauty really is.  The media is no help, with its airbrushed and enhanced images of models and movie stars.
The answer isn't dieting or new clothes or surgery.  The answer is found in the Word of God. Author Erin Davis, who has struggled plenty with her own body image, takes young women on a journey of discovery and love to a new image of themselves as daughters of God. She addresses issues such as how we talk to ourselves, truths about our bodies, redefining flaws, disordered eating, and true inward beauty in this honest and thought-provoking book.  Journal prompts help readers dig deeper into each chapter. Young women will come to a deeper understanding of physical and spiritual beauty as they look in the mirror through God's eyes.
